For more than 40 years, Chick Arnold was Arizona’s most forceful voice and effective advocate for the rights of the mentally ill.
His 1981 class action lawsuit on behalf of Maricopa County's seriously mentally ill population alleged that the State of Arizona failed to fund a comprehensive mental health system as required by state law. In 1989, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled, in Arnold v. Sarn, that the State had indeed violated its statutory duty, and the State’s subsequent compliance with the Court’s ruling has resulted in additional annual funding in the hundreds of millions of dollars for the benefit of seriously mentally ill Arizonans.
Chick’s efforts in that case prompted one commentator to assert, “Chick Arnold is to the mentally ill of Arizona what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was to African Americans during the civil rights movement.”

Jennifer is an Attorney here in Arizona. Despite being a fairly new lawyer with mountains of student loan debt, she quit her job in 2021 to dedicate her life to filing a lawsuit against the United States, called Jennifer N. Murphey v. The United States of America. The point of the lawsuit is to bringing justice to all our forgotten brothers and sisters, our families and fellow humans. She spent several months in isolation researching and writing and created the biggest lawsuit in history to bring an end and awareness to this deadly so-called war. Taking a leap of faith, she filed that lawsuit by herself on July 21, 2022, knowing that others would find and join her.
Whether the lawsuit ultimately succeeds is of no consequence to her. She wanted to bring the truth to the American people and the courts to counter the propaganda and programming that has caused millions to misperceive what the so-called war on drugs really is, to blindly medicate themselves and their families with deadly pharmaceuticals, all while believing they are doing the right thing by persecuting those who use drugs not made by big pharma.
The deadly so-called war on drugs is really a war on humans, minds, free-thinking, informed consent, non-complaint consumerism, freedom, and much more. The lawsuit seeks to create transparency in pharmaceuticals and end the criminalization of personal choice. Jennifer knows within the depths of her soul that many will come to join her in this pursuit of freedom of humanity.
